Quiet and pleasantly located next to the river Arade and within easy access to some of the wonderful beaches in the Algarve, Ferragudo has the benefit of being within minutes driving from the bustling city of Portimão. It belongs also to the municipality of Lagoa, located east of Portimão, on the other side of the river. It really is a very picturesque scene when you arrive in Ferragudo to see the whitewashed houses ‘tumbling’ down the hillside towards the river front. With about 2,000 inhabitants, it is 280 km from Lisbon, 69 km from Faro airport and 254 km from Seville.

It has been a fishing village since immemorial time, but tourism is now its largest revenue source; however, still ideal for tourists who fish for sport. Angrinha and Praia Grande are the two most sought after beaches, with equipment for windsurfing and canoeing.
